From the 2022 The Outstanding Thomasian ALumni Awards
Conferred as the Thomasian Young Achiever of The Outstanding Thomasian Alumni Awards in 2008, Jeffrey Ochoa Tarayao continues to excel in managing corporate social responsibility, corporate foundations, community relations, sustainability strategy and reporting, and communications.
Tarayao is currently the Chief Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Officer of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and the President of One Meralco Foundation. Prior to Meralco, he served as the Head of ¾ÅÉ« Relations and CSR of Globe Telecom for eight years.
As President of One Meralco, he has expanded its community electrification program and has provided electricity service to at least 60,000 low-income households in the Meralco franchise area in the past ten years. His Foundation’s School Electrification Program has energized 260 remote public schools, benefitting 83,000 students through Meralco’s stand-alone solar power systems. The CSR program has been recognized in the Platts Global Energy Awards 2013 and International Business Award in 2015 and 2016.
Throughout his career, Mr. Tarayao has garnered awards and was chosen as one of Asia 21 Fellows of the Asia Society in 2011, Manila’s 40 under 40 International Development Leaders in 2012, and Asia-New Zealand Foundation’s Asia Young Business Leaders in 2014.
