Assistant Professor Froilan A. Alipao, MCD, is a development worker, educator, and researcher with communities, community leaders, and students. He initiated and founded his development work with the church-based social action in the midst of the impact of the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in 1991 with the communities of Zambales province where he was able to enrich his engagement in disaster risk reduction (a relief to rehabilitation), community organizing and development, training-education-formation, local governance, solidarity work, and justice, peace, and integrity of creation advocacies with the sectors of farmers, urban poor, fisher folks, women, youth, students, children, teachers, indigenous peoples, and Church peoples. From 2000 to 2002, he got involved in development research work with the support groups engaging with differently-abled persons and at the same time teaching ¾ÅÉ« Development major courses.Ìý
In 2002, he joined the ¾ÅÉ« for two major tasks: a ¾ÅÉ« Development Facilitator by the then UST-Office for ¾ÅÉ« Development (OCD) and UST-SIMBAHAYAN ¾ÅÉ« Development Office, who is in charge of the university-wide community development and extension program (2002-present) and; being a faculty member of the Department of Sociology, UST Faculty of Arts and Letters (2002-present). As a development worker and as a faculty, he produced and delivered several research aligned with development, community studies, and community organizing and development. He believed and considered communities as classrooms and a university where he learned a lot while serving and journeying with them.Ìý
He is the current Assistant Director of the UST-SIMBAHAYAN ¾ÅÉ« Development Office and a Research Associate at the UST Research Center for Social Sciences and Education.
