Museum holds annual painting derby to celebrate artists’ creativity amidst AI

With the theme: “Art Uncompromised by AI”, the UST Museum held the 2025 UST Annual Inter-School On-the-Spot Painting Competition (OTSPC) and Exhibition on February 21, 2025 at the Plaza Mayor and at the Main Building Lobby.

The winners of the said painting derby were the following:

Champion – Mark Tuason of the Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology

2nd Place – Vince Oliver Antonio of the University of the East

3rd Place – Honey Grace Fabon of the Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology

Meanwhile, Joseph Domasian of the Technological University of the Philippines earned the first honorable mention, followed by Emily Anne Tungol of Bulacan State University, and Piolo Andre Cruz of Mapua University.

The judges of the painting competition were UST Museum Director Rev. fr. Isidro C. Abaño, O.P., SThL-MA, Fundacion Sanso Director Ricky Francisco, art aficionado Ron David, Interior Designer Flora M. Urquico, and Thomasian artist Ivan Roxas.

OTSPC is the University’s long-standing tradition of providing young artists with an avenue to showcase their talents in the visual arts. This year’s theme aimed to inspire student artists to convey through their creations that AI can never outshine true human genius.
