The ¾ÅÉ« (UST) invites the Thomasian ¾Åɫ—students, faculty members, alumni, and support staff—to participate in the 79th UAAP Theme Song Writing Competition. This is your chance to compose a song that embodies the spirit of unity, perseverance, and hope, capturing the essence of the UAAP Season 79 theme: “Strength in Motion, Hope in Action.”
ELIGIBILITY
- The competition is open to all Thomasians—students, faculty members, alumni, and support staff.
- Participants may join as individuals or as a group (maximum of five members).
- Each participant or group may submit only one entry.
SONG REQUIREMENTS
- The song must reflect the official UAAP theme, “Strength in Motion, Hope in Action.”
- The lyrics may be in English, Filipino, or a mix of both.
- The entry must be an original composition. It should not have been published, performed, or submitted to any other competition.
- The song must be 3 to 4 minutes long.
- The song can be of any genre suitable for a high-energy sports anthem (e.g., pop, rock, hip-hop, or fusion) and should be dynamic and uplifting.
- The song must have positive and inspiring lyrics that celebrate sportsmanship, determination, and unity.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- A full recording of the song (demo or final version) in MP3 or WAV format. (Professional studio recording is not required, but clarity is essential.)
- A typed lyric sheet in PDF or Word format.
- A short composer’s statement (100–150 words) explaining the inspiration behind the song and how it embodies the theme.
- A duly accomplished entry form with the participant’s full name(s), proof of Thomasian affiliation (ID for students/faculty/staff, alumni certificate, etc.), and contact details.
- All submissions must be sent via email to [official competition email] with the subject line: UAAP 79 Theme Song – [Composer’s Name].
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION
- Entries must be submitted via the official competition email or online portal
- All entries must be submitted on or before May 31, 2025. Late entries will not be accepted.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to Theme (30%):
- How well the song captures the essence of Strength in Motion, Hope in Action.
- Musicality (30%):
- Melody, harmony, rhythm, and overall musical arrangement.
- Lyrics (20%):
- Depth, creativity, and clarity of the lyrics.
- Originality (10%):
- Uniqueness and creativity in composition.
- Emotional Impact (10%):
- Ability to evoke emotions and connect with the audience.
AWARDS & RECOGNITION
- The winning entry will receive PHP 30,000 + official recognition
- The winning song will be performed during the UAAP 79 opening ceremonies and throughout the season in various events and media promotions.
ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES
- All entries become the property of the organizers and may be used for promotional purposes.
- By joining, participants grant the organizers the right to use their names, likeness, and entries for publicity and documentation.
- Plagiarism or infringement of intellectual property rights will result in disqualification.
- The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.
