Japanese artist Masakazu Iwasaki staged his solo exhibition featuring the “Neo Japanism” style in his airbrush paintings on March 5, 2025, at the Beato Angelico Building Gallery.

For Iwasaki, in his artist statement, his original style was an attempt to challenge new artistic expression, incorporating modern techniques and sensibilities tethered from the Japanese sense of aesthetics and culture.

His works demonstrated the power of airbrushes in creating realistic textures and smooth gradation. Motifs such as dragons and koi were auspicious images in the oriental culture, included in his exhibit.

Present in his works also was the 500-year-old technique of pasting 24k gold leaf on the canvas, which served as the arena of his expression, similar to ink painting.

The College of Fine Arts and Design (CFAD) organized the exhibit to promote peace and friendship between the two countries.

“This year marks the 80th anniversary of the war’s end, and I would like to start an event through art, spreading its appeal while wishing for peace and smiles all over the world,” Iwasaki said.

The exhibit can be viewed until March 8, 2025 and is open to the public.

From December 7 to 11, 2024, the third-year BS Tourism Management students of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management embarked on an International Educational Tour to Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand.

The tour provided a comprehensive learning opportunity for the students of Classes 3TOM1, 3TOM2, and 3TOM3. Designed to immerse them in the operational aspects of international tourism, the program aimed to achieve several objectives. These included gaining firsthand experience of Thailand鈥檚 tourism and hospitality sectors, assessing the roles of travel agencies in delivering tourism services, fostering cultural preservation and sustainable development practices, and reinforcing experiential and contextual learning. Additionally, students were tasked with creating safeguarding measures for cultural heritage and summarizing their experiences through a well-crafted paper and video presentation.

The five-day tour combined hands-on activities and cultural exploration, allowing students to immerse themselves in Thailand鈥檚 vibrant culture and traditions. Highlights included a relaxing Thai massage at Healthland, cooking classes at the Bangkok Thai Cooking Academy, and visits to iconic sites such as the Grand Palace, the Sanctuary of Truth, and the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.

One of the most memorable experiences was the Thai Bus Food Tour, an innovative dining experience aboard a moving double-decker bus that showcased Bangkok鈥檚 culinary scene. This unique activity allowed students to enjoy a curated selection of local dishes while exploring the city鈥檚 landmarks. The tour offered valuable insights into how innovation and creativity can enhance tourist experiences, blending gastronomy with sightseeing in a sustainable and modern way.

Throughout the trip, students observed and analyzed the processes involved in itinerary planning, destination management, and the operations of tourism businesses. They also reflected on the importance of integrating cultural preservation into tourism practices, as demonstrated by Thailand鈥檚 efforts to sustain its rich heritage while embracing modern tourism innovations.

This international educational tour not only deepened the students’ knowledge of global tourism but also reinforced their understanding of sustainable practices and innovative approaches in the industry. By the end of the journey, they gained valuable insights and practical skills, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to the evolving field of tourism management.

This enriching experience was organized and arranged by Allpoints Travel and Tours in collaboration with Class 3TOM1 Turismo Travels under the Travel Agency Management and Operations (TOSM5263) program.
